GOIMEK COMPLETES €11.6 MILLION INVESTMENT TO STRENGTHEN ITS PRECISION AND LARGE-SCALE MACHINING CAPABILITIES

27 June, 2025

Goimek, the Basque cooperative specialized in precision and large-scale machining, has completed an €11.6 million investment plan aimed at modernizing its facilities and expanding its production capacity. The initiative is part of Danobatgroup’s 2021–2024 strategic plan, which involved a total investment of €80 million, supported by the Basque Government.

The investments, officially presented at Goimek’s plant in Itziar (Gipuzkoa), include a full upgrade of its machinery and the development of new technical and operational spaces. One of the key additions is a temperature-controlled machining area, designed to meet the demanding standards of the aerospace sector. This facility allows the processing of advanced materials such as titanium, Inconel, Invar, copper, and various metal alloys.

A standout investment is the PR-W 17000 milling machine from Soraluce. Capable of machining parts up to 17 meters long and weighing up to 100 tons, the machine positions Goimek among a select group of European firms offering such capabilities in large-scale machining. The system features multiple milling and boring heads, automatic tool change, and integrated grinding functions.

The modernization plan also includes state-of-the-art equipment such as a Danobat SGD tangential grinding machine, a Soraluce FP-8000 milling-boring machine, and a Hermle C42 five-axis machining center. Additionally, the company has upgraded its 3D measurement systems to ensure the quality control of large-scale components.

Beyond equipment, part of the investment has been allocated to infrastructure improvements. This includes the creation of new office spaces, areas for customer service, and the acquisition of land for future expansion.

With these enhancements, Goimek aims to increase its turnover by 25% in the next strategic cycle, after closing 2024 with €12 million in revenue and a workforce of over 90 employees. The company currently has 15,000 m² of buildable space in Itziar, offering room for further growth.

These investments mark the conclusion of Danobatgroup’s 2021–2024 investment cycle, which also included other group cooperatives such as Soraluce. The initiative has been supported by the Basque Government's Bilakatu program, reflecting a coordinated effort to reinforce the Basque industrial sector through innovation and sustainability.
