MITXELENA CELEBRATES 25 YEARS AND STRENGTHENS ITS COMMITMENT TO INNOVATION AND EXPANSION

Mitxelena cooperative, located in Hernani and specialized in large-scale machining, has commemorated the 25th anniversary of its founding with an event held at its headquarters under the slogan “25th transition. We are one single piece.” In addition, the company announced the acquisition of a new facility to expand its production capacity and continue advancing in innovation. With this investment, the company aims to strengthen its presence in strategic markets and offer a comprehensive service throughout the entire lifecycle of each part.

In lapping, the maximum inner diameter (28–1,500 mm) and maximum length (16,000 mm) have been adjusted, reaching a minimum roughness of RA 0.2. These improvements enable faster and more efficient work on large diameters. In boring, the maximum length has increased to 18,500 mm, incorporating Fagor CNC technology to achieve greater machining precision. In drilling/broaching, the company is progressing to allow internal machining of up to 4 meters. Additionally, Mitxelena has carried out external belt polishing on large-diameter parts, achieving a roughness of RA 0.4—an especially useful solution for rollers in the paper industry and rods for large-dimension cylinders.

These innovations, together with the planned 1,800 m² expansion for new machinery and services, reinforce Mitxelena’s goal of continuing to offer advanced solutions with technical rigor, sustainability, and cooperation.
