Founded 33 years ago around the Opel Spain plant in Figueruelas, the company has evolved significantly, diversifying and developing high value-added products for sectors such as aviation, space and robotics.

Origins and evolution

Umec was founded in 1991 by Miguel Alierta, a former Opel employee who decided to start his own business. Initially, the company was dedicated to the production of tooling for the Figueruelas factory. However, under the leadership of Diego Alierta, the second generation, Umec has undergone a radical transformation. The plant in Malpica, which now has 3,000 square meters, is a testimony to this evolution, with significant investments in technology and production capacity.
Innovation and competitiveness

Umec has become a comprehensive company capable of offering everything from highly engineered design to manufacturing and delivery logistics of precision parts. The company has diversified its customer portfolio and sectors, standing out in automotive, aeronautics, defense, energy and robotics. Its two main lines of business are the manufacture of special tooling and tooling, and the production of high precision components by machining.
